Welcome to 99 Cat Games.
This is a project where one lone human hopes use the magic of AI coding to create, from scratch, 99 games featuring cats.
Games about cats, about the cat experience, or games where we're just swapping in a cat for a human or whatever.
Retro games didn't rely on extensive graphics or lengthy cinematic cut scenes. They were good games in their own right, leveraging the imagination, with iconic titles packed into sometimes 17KB or less.
Often games from the Atari or NES era featured incredibly elaborate backstories and box art, and lengthy manuals, that get a player totally pumped to play a game where a square moves around a maze made from other squares to collect a square from a square room.
So why not try and replicate not the games themselves, but the playability, the feel, the aesthetic, and the simplicity-wrapped wholesomeness that makes memories of hours spent playing these games last for years.
Most coding starts off with Claude 3.7, occasionally using ChatGPT o3 for some clean up.

Will I make it to 99 games? I have about 137 ideas, so the limitation is just time and getting the AI to produce my vision without breaking the whole game. All I know is that there will be mistakes, there will be typos, and there will be no ads.
